What is passive exercise?

Active exercise involves a moderate-to-high level of exertion sustained during brief time periods. For example, going to the gym, swimming, running, playing soccer, or dancing all represent forms of active exercise. In contrast, passive exercise involves a lower level of exertion that can be sustained for longer time periods while being integrated with daily life. For example, hobbies such as gardening or going for a long walk with a friend represent forms of passive exercise. Research has shown that both active and passive exercise are important for health and longevity. In other words, going to the gym a few times per week may not be enough if you want to live a healthy and optimized lifestyle. The good news is that our passive exercise solution is much easier to integrate into your daily life than active exercise while requiring zero day-to-day time investment.

Why should I care?

The average American sits 9.5 hours a day. All this sitting – an unnatural way of life for Homo sapiens – can have dramatic effects on human health, even for people who regularly engage in active exercise. Research has shown that high amounts of sitting are associated with up to a 1.4-fold increase in all-cause mortality, even after adjusting for measures of active exercise. Put simply, going to the gym a few times a week may not fully offset the long-term damage inflicted on our bodies by the modern sedentary lifestyle.

You may be thinking that none of this will matter until later... you feel healthy now, right? Well, unfortunately, a leading researcher at Yale University reported that many young, healthy adults with a sedentary lifestyle already show pre-diabetic changes at the level of muscle tissue, years before the onset of clinical symptoms. Put simply, excessive sitting may harm our bodies even while we still feel young and healthy. It may not be until years later that the symptoms of chronic illness, pain, and disability start to emerge. However, by that time it can be more challenging to treat these symptoms at their root cause. Modern medicine may offer treatments to relieve symptoms, but reversing decades of covert damage is much harder to do than simply preventing it.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

This is why Tulip M3D has designed a revolutionary solution to incorporate passive exercise into your lifestyle while requiring zero day-to-day time investment. This simple and elegant 'life hack' will support your health, longevity, and day-to-day wellbeing.
